All Hallows, Penwortham
On Monday 14th November, the Animate team began their first Mission Week of the year at All Hallows Catholic High School in Penwortham.
The school chose the theme of ‘Be the face of mercy’ for the team and the staff to focus on with the pupils.
On Monday, each year group had an opening session with the Animate team looking at what mercy is as an introduction to the week.
Throughout the rest of the week, the team used the Corporal Acts of Mercy to show how the young people of All Hallows could be the face of mercy to others in their day to day lives.
The usual school lessons were put to one side for the week as the staff created special Mission lessons, all focused on mercy. These ranged from lessons focused on ‘Dia de los Muertos’ to look at the Corporal Act of ‘Bury the dead’ to water filtration devices to think about ‘Drink to the thirsty’. Pupils (and staff!) enjoyed these lessons, reinforcing the message of Mission Week.
The week concluded with the celebration of Holy Mass for each key stage, and with a special visit from Archbishop Malcolm McMahon.
It was a fantastic Mission Week and we hope that the pupils and staff of All Hallows enjoyed their week and will continue to be the face of mercy to others in their lives.
